Ballsy, bluesy, hard rock 'n' roll just about sums up their sound. Western Sand's double Gibson guitar frontline Jimmy Bradshaw and Tyler Hains weave solos around one another, with fret tapping and wah wah aplenty. Nathan Kay's drumming, reminiscent of the late, great John Bonham, pounds and splashes behind Paul Ballentine's reserved bass playing, with cheeky cow bell fills that cause Western Sand to grin amongst themselves. They're obviously a band that enjoy playing and get a kick out of this. Representing a breed that live the working man's rock 'n' roll dream - a crappy day job that allows them to walk away, sling on a pair of stone washed jeans and black t-shirt and go play some heavy-ass rock music.
